The Closet contributes to the community in many ways, including through scholarships to students entering college and grants to local community service organizations. Another way that The Closet benefits the community is through its voucher program. Authorized organizations can provide their clients with vouchers up to two times a year, once for spring/summer items and once for fall/winter items. The Closet then allows the clients to “buy” clothing, shoes, and essential household items using these vouchers. For the 2018-2019 fall/winter period, more than 1600 individuals (including 674 children under 18) received assistance, worth over $50,800. For the 2019 spring/summer period, over 1700 individuals (including 638 children) received assistance, worth over $52,600. This support is yet another way in which The Closet positively impacts the lives of those in the community.
