Why Donate to The Closet:

Through the blessings of your donations, The Closet thrift store is able to support the local community through its programs of grants, scholarships, and vouchers.

When to Donate:

The Closet accepts donations from 8AM-12PM Monday-Wednesday and Friday-Saturday. 

We do not accept donations on Thursdays or Sundays.

In the event of inclement weather which may require a temporary closing, you can get up-to-the-date store status by checking The Closet’s home page, checking The Closet Facebook Page, or calling the store at (703) 437-7652.

What We Accept

We ask that your donations be in good working condition, including all pieces and parts, and are free of rips, stains, and damage.

 

Clothing, shoes, and accessories – Men’s, women’s, children’s and baby clothing, shoes, purses, belts that are clean and free of stains & odors:  Vintage through new.
Linens – bed/bath/table linens, bedding, curtains, decorative pillows (not bed pillows) clean and free of stains or pet hair.
Electronics – small appliances (e.g., toasters, blenders, mixers), flat screen televisions, stereo equipment. Donations must be in working order, no missing parts, hardware and small tools with cords. We do not accept larger appliances (e.g., refrigerators, stoves).  
Computers – laptops, tablets, smart phones in good working condition less than 5 yrs old, with power adapters. Please make sure that data and passwords are removed from electronic items such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops
Small Tools – Hand tools and power tools in good working condition
Housewares – glass, and dining ware, home décor, lamps, knickknacks, artwork, antiques/collectibles
Jewelry – all jewelry including watches (working order-note if battery needed), eye glasses, like new beauty & hair care products
Media – records/CDs/DVDs/VGS greeting cards (with cases/boxes)
Books – we can especially use children’s books, cookbooks, and recent fiction. Please, no encyclopedias, textbooks, or Readers Digest Condensed books. Limit of one box donated per car per day.
Luggage – suitcases, briefcases & backpacks – zippers work, lightly used condition, undamaged
Sporting goods – baseball/football/soccer/basketball equipment, bicycles, exercise equipment.  We may be unable to accept during certain seasons based upon storage limitations.
Craft – yarn, fabric, kits
Toys – toys, games (complete), puzzles (complete) small musical instruments, small stuffed animals
Seasonal Items –  Decorations for holidays such as Christmas, 4th of July, Halloween, etc.
Baby Items – Strollers, door gates.  NO CARSEATS
Pet Supplies

We Do NOT Accept

Items which are incomplete, damaged, or in need of repair

 

 

Cribs, carseats, mattresses or bed pillows

Bicycle helmets

Encyclopedias, textbooks, Reader Digest Condensed books

Food (consider calling local food banks)

Large appliances (e.g., refrigerators, stoves) and large tools

Combustible items.

Gasoline or other fuel-based equipment (gasoline lawn equipment, fuel camp stoves, etc.)

Furniture & entertainment centers

Firearms or ammunition

Weapons

TVs older than 5 years, CRT monitors, or printers

Cassette Tapes
