Are you looking for ways to give back to the Community? Do you want to make new friends? Volunteer support is essential to the successful realization of the Closet’s mission. While The Closet has a small paid staff, The Closet relies heavily on volunteers to support many of our efforts.
Volunteer opportunities are available from 10:00AM – 4:00PM Monday-Saturday.
Faith Based Member Congregations
Each of the member congregations is scheduled for specific volunteer days. The scheduled days for each congregation can be found in this Google calendar: Congregation Volunteer Schedule

If you have not volunteered previously, you will be asked to complete a short volunteer application your first time volunteering. If you would like to print and complete the form in advance, you can find it at this link: Google Drive Information for Volunteers. You will also find information there about functions which volunteers may perform at The Closet, and why volunteering is important for The Closet and good for volunteers.
If you want to volunteer, but your congregation’s scheduled times do not fit your schedule, your support is still required. You may contact the store manager (theclosetinc@verizon.net) to coordinate specific times.
Individuals including Students
We would love to have you join our volunteer family. Email (theclosetinc@verizon.net) the store manager to arrange a time to stop by the first time and we will work with you to schedule your volunteer time and get you started. We always need volunteers, and we can help you find your volunteer spot. Students in middle school, high school, and college are welcome to volunteer and will receive credit towards their school volunteer requirements. For those under 18, a parent must come to the store the first time to approve your volunteering. Students younger than middle school must volunteer with a parent.
Business or Community Service Organizations
The Closet always needs help, and we would love to offer you a one-time group volunteer opportunity. Please email at theclosetinc@verizon.net, and you will be contacted so that we can discuss our project needs and to schedule a date and time that is convenient for you.
Court Mandated Community Service
In conjunction with the Fairfax County court system’s probation and parole programs, The Closet offers court mandated community service opportunities. Work performance and hours are monitored and reported to court officials as needed. If you are interested in learning more please email The Closet (theclosetinc@verizon.net) and you will be contacted by the store manager. Please be advised that you may need to provide a copy of court paperwork that specifies offense and # of hours, or a copy of your court docket that includes your offense or reason you are assigned CS hours.
