It is with great sadness that The Closet reports the passing of William (Bill) DuBois, an Officer at Large and a tremendously active volunteer for The Closet. As a member and later Chair of the Facilities Committee, Bill was a driving force behind so many of the physical improvements at The Closet. He was instrumental in securing a reduced cost for construction of the new Rear Addition. He supervised the recent renovation of the Sorting and Linen Rooms. He was the lead in constructing the rear egress to the parking lot. He recommended converting The Closet’s aged and inefficient lighting to cost-saving state of the art LEDs. He arranged for the installation of air scrubbers for the HVAC system. He pushed for updating The Closet’s security system with camera monitors. One of his last projects was assembling shelving for the renovated Sorting Room.
Bill was an exemplary volunteer. He was always handy with a productive suggestion or useful contact that could improve the operation of The Closet. When he saw a job that needed to be done, he did it, often with his own personal funds. He was good at pulling in other volunteers and tradespeople to help on the various projects he was tasked with.
Besides The Closet, Bill was a very active volunteer and board member for Women Giving Back, another non-profit working to improve the lives of those in our community.
Bill will surely be missed, both as a tremendous asset to the non-profits he supported and as deeply caring individual. Our condolences go out to his family.
If people would like to give in remembrance of Bill, donations can be made to The Closet, to Women Giving Back (https://womengivingback.org), or to Vale United Methodist Church (https://valechurch.org.
