The mokugyo is a carved wooden percussion instrument often used in Buddhist temple rituals. They are also known as a fish drum (based upon the shape in which they are frequently carved), Chinese temple block, or chanting drum. The age of our drum is uncertain, but it appears to be vintage based upon its construction and wear. It would make a great find for the collector of unusual instruments. Priced to sell at $38.
