The Closet extends a huge thank you to the 25 volunteers who spent two hours the morning of Saturday January 16th helping to sort, check, package and otherwise beautify toys and games for The Closet’s youngest customers. As they say, a good time was had by all!
The annual service event is part of the Reston Community Center’s weekend-long celebration of Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy. It was downsized in volunteer numbers due to Covid restrictions but not in terms of impact.
Volunteers — kids, adults, and entire families — counted game pieces, checked batteries, dressed Barbie dolls, wrapped tray puzzles, and sorted items ranging from play food to collectible figures. The result: A van load of toys ready for a new home!
Thank you, volunteers! Your service to the community honors the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr!
